Apparently different engines have different way to handle the residue - some let it accumulate on the side, some below .. Forgot which does good in what way though ...

Originally posted by dream787 View PostCOLD Start, its usually happens when the aircraft is starting after resting in cold weather or usually a start up after an overnight layover.this is caused by partially burnet fuel. when the engine spools up the partially burnt fuel (white smoke) will push out from the tailpipe. this happens for few seconds until engine gains enough pressure and combustor get heatd up. Other than this you may see smoke from the engine oil breathers but its not obvious usually happens at intervals.

I went spotting again today at Washington Reagan National Airport (KDCA). The afternoon is the busiest time, as most domestic flights to all different parts of the United States leave during that time. My friend and I both went and got some nice shots of planes departing from the park that is directly behind the main runway. Thanks to my fellow spotting friend Ahmed for going with me to snap pictures. Here is what we got:
Delta Airlines Boeing 737-800 (SkyTeam Livery)
US Airways Embraer 170
JetBlue Embraer 190
US Airways Airbus A319
American Airlines Boeing 737-800Last edited by sfernando34; 10-05-2013, 08:07 AM.
