I finally made it to Washington Dulles, my first time there since early March! It was great to click a few shots of some heavies during the afternoon rush hour of flights from Europe and the Middle East.
Saudi Arabian Airlines Boeing 777-200ER

Nice shots! I am curious to know what time does this SA land and take off in IAD! . It's a matter of red-eye flight. Wiki mentions, From a marketing standpoint, the red-eye flights allow business travelers an opportunity to migrate eastward without having an impact on a full business day.

Interesting! SAA does similar here at IAD. It arrives every morning shortly before 06:00. It then proceeds to sit at its gate until 17:55 when it departs back to JNB via DKR. I would think that South African must spend quite a bit on gate fees, as their aircraft sit idle at these airports throughout entire days. It's good for us spotters, as the South African A340s are the plane that you are gaurenteed to get a shot of if you visit IAD during daylight hours!Originally posted by Banuthev View PostNice shots! For some strange reason they never do. Not really sure why. But for the entire day, the South African A340 is always sitting at that gate. I would think that they pay a high gate fee for that! While Dulles is not a hugely busy airport compared to JFK, O'hare or Atlanta-Hartsfield, there is a fair amount of international traffic in the afternoon to that terminal.
