British Airways, KLM, Air France, Aeroflot, Austrian Airlines, Balkan Bulgarian, Cyprus Airways, CSA Czech Airlines, Swissair ..

I still remember Aeroflot used to operate SVO-KHI-CMB on Mondays and Wednesdays using A310 which used to land in CMB at 12:10 then depart at 22:40 after spending around 10 hours in Colombo.

As far as I know Lufthansa never operated a pax operations to Colombo though LTU and Condor Flug used to connect Colombo with Berlin, Munich, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Dusseldorf in 2000s. Lufthansa Cargo flew on FRA-SHJ-BLR-CMB 3 x weekly on MD11Fs.

Yes Banu, You are probably correct, LH did not operate PAX service to SL.

Did SAS ever operated to Colombo? Wikipedia says it did, but I am not sure.

LH had a succesful presence in Sri Lanka, selling their code-shared flights, for onward travel .. but from my memory too, don't remember them sending anything other than charters.

LH, like other carriers, do charters ..

BA will be operating the service with a Boeing 777 aircraft that offers three grades of cabin, including Club World class, which will feature fully flat beds.

Thanks for info and pics. Glad to see BA has opened the CMB flight Reservation seven months before the flight-launch. BA exploits the LON-MLE-CMB sector which was previously operated by SriLankan 4 x weekly. I think BA/UL (To be OW partners in 2013) may codeshare on this route :-)

LTU operated CMB flights on all seasons as schedule operator. On those days, German flights regularly visited CMB with a minimum of 4 x weekly but now not even single German Airline operate to Colombo. Hopefully LH will launch CMB flights near future as German Tourists Arrivals to Sri Lanka rose with 37,933 visitors up 26 percent last month.

Thanks Banuthev, SG is going to be the ice breaker as they may begin services by early or mid September. Some of our AAM guys are visiting Colombo in the first flight.
