Currently, Emirates is not intrested in increasing number of flights to Colombo but they are looking to increase the capacity by replacing existing A330-200s/B777-200s with B777-300s.
Are you sure Banuthev...I was aware there was a request from EK (That's one of the reason EK to open it own lounge at CMB) for additional frequency; GOSL requested EK to operate the additional frequency to HTT.
I thought we had an agreement that they dont fly to our destinations. But how ever if its true thre will be a loss for UL too.
MJ is already flying to DXB and TRZ, which are served by UL. There is nothing wrong MJ and UL fly the same destinations as long as there is an enough traffic to fill the seats on both carriers. But I wonder if CMB-DEL has that enough traffic ?

EK/EY/G9/ are not fully-utlilizing the given rights. I am not sure about FZ.

Thats what I thought too. Unless UL will withdraw from Delhi? But that would be an insane thing to do.
In regards to IFE on Mihin, it isnt a bad idea if theyre charging customers extra for the privilege. However knowing them they could give it free to the customer. Mihin needs to expand its fleet more rapidly and cut costs if it is to have any chance to survive. Or else it should be merged back into UL (or rebranded as UL Express, Monara or something. Like what CX did with Dragonair or what SQ did with SilkAir). That way it could also take over some UL services at a lower cost base whilst not affecting the UL brand (thus helping both airlines profits). But it should also start expanding into secondary Indian destinations not already served (e.g. Hyderabad, Vizag etc).

Mihin Lanka is planning to have five flights a week to New Delhi out of two flights would be extended to Kathmandu.
Bihar state government will expand Gaya Airport and dole out incentives to airlines to facilitate a boost in pilgrimage traffic to Bodhgaya, a religious site believed to be the place where Buddha obtained enlightenment.
Bihar state government will offer incentives such as lower tax on aviation fuel, reduced landing & parking charges to attract more airlines to fly into Bodhgaya.
Sunil Kumar Pintu, tourism minister of Bihar said: “Our government will offer all kinds of assistance to airlines who come forward to connect Bodhgaya with other cities, including international destinations.”
Currently, connections to Bodhgaya are operated by Mihin Lanka from Colombo.
Does anyone here know they exact reason as to why UL decided to terminate the CMB-SYD route in 2001? and where I can find this routes RPK information?
I will try to find one. I read on the news during CMB terror-attack in Jul 2001, UL679 on A343 was diverted to MAA with 160pax, which is around 52% pax load. Not sure this figure also includes the crew.
