SriLankan targets 16 % revenue growth
Chandrasena noted that the world traffic which is recording a 4.8% growth a year will provide enormous opportunities for SriLankan Airlines to build a sustainable airline.
We are currently undertaking both modernization and expansion of fleets and looking at the sectors we need to fly and new traffic profiles to determine what type of aircraft we need to acquire in the future. SriLankan Airlines is also in the process of streamlining all aspects of its operations thereby getting the required efficiencies particularly in the human skills development segment to supplement the local aviation market.
SriLankan Airlines Chairman Nishantha Wickramasinghe said that SriLankan Airlines is set to become the Centre for Excellence in the region in the aviation industry related training and human resources development activities.

As per Airlineroute, Korean Air postpones Sri Lanka / Maldives planned service resumption.
The service is now tentatively scheduled to begin from 03MAR13, instead of 23DEC12.

As per expansion plans, UL is now going to provide a nonstop flights to all their destinations in China while Chengdu will be launched just before Winter 2013. Regarding aircraft-replacements for three of the A340-311s are still under study. I think UL should get some A330-300s as most of the international airlines are cancelling the A330-300s orders in favour of B787s. May be UL can mull some of the A330-300s for discounted-price.
What do you say?

I think the yield is also a concern for UL in operating CMB-ICN route. It appears to be UL has cancelled the plans of operating directly to ICN instead they wants to codeshare with KE. IMHO, UL should launch flights to African Nations like Kenya, South Africa etc .. with a codeshare-partnership with KE.

I agree with A333 with RR700 would suit better if they could negotiate a good price. But again I would like to see the bottom line of the UL accounts; I am still not confident UL is a viable airline in the hands of a government management.
