Now try to extrapolate this to CMB-MEL (2 stop overs; in SIN and DRW) and you can imagine the costs involved.
You cannot circumvent the laws of physics, if they are to be successful on this route, they need to fly a wide body non-stop or with one stop in SIN.

Other than that, they fly, and do almost similiar speeds, and well, there are LCCs doing upto 6 hours or more using 320s and not wide bodies, unless they can fill the seats.
Heck, PR, as I see the numbers here, has been steadily subbing larger wide-bodies with 320 to most regional destinations and also to add capacity as needed, as they can't fill enough seats always for a Widebody
on the other hand, last week, ANA-SIN-NRT was constantly 50% or less filled, as an example ..

JQ has been leveraging on their 3K operation so much Singapore has become a Mini-bhub for Jetstar, and the booking engine is merged with VF added in ..
My 2 cents ? It will be one stop via Singapore with interline by 3K
Then again, 3K having burnt their fingers in a lot of non-profitable ventures, I am not sure how soon this will take off, i.e. to CMBLast edited by ecureilx; 26-06-2013, 09:07 AM.

Air Asia to resume flights to Colombo
Air Asia, which pulled out earlier this year, is planning a comeback to Colombo this summer through a subsidiary company, AirAsiaX, airline officials said.
Air Asia pulled out its operations to Colombo earlier this year but its subsidiary company, Air AsiaX, launched to operate as a low-cost long haul carrier, would be eyeing possibilities of entering the country, Air Asia Sales and Marketing Manager Ranjeewa Senaratne told TimesOnline.

My bet again is not likely to be non-stop ..

So, even if Jetstar (or whatever its subsidiary) operates CMB-MEL it will have at least 1 stop (and if it is SIN, it requires deplanning with all your belongings and being subject to security groping all over again, even if they use the same aircraft), therefore UL will most definitely have an edge if they operate a nonstop flight.

SIN, I don't remember whether transit pax need to get groped, well, they never groped anyway, and have other kit to scan .. then again, Singapore Stopover has been going so all out if you stopover here, you may get incentives such as free local hop on/hop off, discount at attractions etc, which are currently on offer for SQ stopover

Tony is focussing in Asia, and maybe use Malindo to uplift capacity ..

So this is the reason why 4R-ADF was upgraded with the new biz seats, its MR's personal plane.
