Guys - keep an eye on first 787 service to Colombo by LOT. So far no any info in the flightaware and they have one 787 stuck in BKK due to some technical issue. Flight number 6521 (not 6651 as reported by airlineroute.net.

The world’s most popular flight tracker. Track planes in real-time on our flight tracker map and get up-to-date flight status & airport information.
Hopefully there will be a water canon salute even though it is a charter flight.

777-200 requires 2440 meters @ MTOW and 777-200 HGW requires 3400 meters @ MTOWLast edited by Speedbird; 07-11-2013, 12:46 PM.

Guys, but in a positive note, if you calculate daily take off landing in CMB, more than 60% are narrow body aircraft, which can easily accommodate on RML.
A320 AirArabia, Mihin, Srilankan, ThaiSmile, Qatar, Etihad, RoyalJordanian, Maldivian
B737 FlyDubai, JetAirways, OmanAir, AirIndia Express, Malaysian Airlines, ChinaEastern
A321 Mihin, AirIndia, Qatar
Q400 Spice Jet
How ever despite above capability on runaway, i am really doubtful that RML has capacity on passenger handling and related infrastructure.
