Guys - keep an eye on first 787 service to Colombo by LOT. So far no any info in the flightaware and they have one 787 stuck in BKK due to some technical issue. Flight number 6521 (not 6651 as reported by airlineroute.net.

Absolutely Not...This is landing; What would be the take off take off weight...MTOW is 2240meters for 777-200 and there are only 88 x 777-200 built by Boeing

@speedbird: use ur common sense if dis 777-200 landed on dis runway......of course it wud takeoff from the same 2000m runway on its return journey to tokyo.......

^^^buddy yes 777-200 aircraft will take off at 2000meter but at what weight? not at MTOW...do you know what MTOW means?

& do you understand the pages 8,9, 10 and 11

i knw wat MTOW is : Maximum Takeoff Weight....................FYI: 95% of the flights around the world do not run at full capacity!!!!! if u put MTOW to the equation, an A340, B777, B747 would have never takenoff from CMB where the rwy is 3350m

Yes now let get back to original question of operating 777-200 to RML. Only operator who operates 777-200 to Colombo is BA. (I think BA operates -ER). So let say BA operates 777-200 to Colombo and return destination is LGW. which bit longer than a Japanese domestic route. So can RML handle 777-200 in case of CMB runway maintenance answer is NO. Because there no operators who operates 777-200 to Colombo on a short distance.

Guys, but in a positive note, if you calculate daily take off landing in CMB, more than 60% are narrow body aircraft, which can easily accommodate on RML.

That is true; GOSL should have developed RML as primary LCC airport and reduce the pressure in CMB
