And really good news regarding Peter Hill at UL! Although it looks like he will only be a consultant with the current CEO in place (unless the CEO gets replaced - If this happens hopefully Mr Hill gets some say in picking a new CEO).

Urgently Mihin Lanka should be merged with SriLankan Airlines. Existing Mihin Lanka routes should be served with a brand naming e.g. SriLankan Air Taxi Hopefully they will re-paint the Mihin Lanka's Airbuses in SriLankan livery soon.
I've never seen U$100m in losses described as an "improvement" before! At least it was stated that these losses are still unsustainable.
U$ 1 Billion in losses and still no audit to find out where all the money went and still no accountability whatsoever.
Merging Mihin with UL is a huge mistake imho. It just adds Mihin's finacial liabilities to those of UL. Still very unclear what penalty will have to be paid for the non delivery of the 2 738's. Also unclear how many of Mihins routes are profitable (my guess - none of them!).
There is zero benefit to UL - this looks like more Politics to show "something is being done". It's the easy way out.
Where is the audit/investigation of Mihn and the people involved? What is needed is some accountability!
I see UL has officially denied the safety allegations previously published. This is one of the most clumsily written statements I have ever seen.
Peter Hill is a good man - I hope he has the mandate to make the tough decisions that are necessary.
The Donkeys that infest all levels of UL need to be removed - that includes the entire current management and most of the department heads. If this happens then things will improve. If not the downward spiral will continue.
Another interesting article - although I don't agree with a lot of his conclusions.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

SriLankan Airlines former CEO Peter Hill will get onboard the national carrier once again as Consultant to turnaround the once profitable venture as the airline merges with budget carrier Mihin Lanka.
Ports and Aviation Minister Arjuna Ranatunga said the government was keen on the two carriers merging with the aim of cutting down on the costs of the two companies.
He noted that they would initially analyse the weak areas and aim at cutting down on the expenditure incurred by the carriers.
Moreover, he pointed out that Mr. Hill would issue a report on how SriLankan Airlines would be able to turnaround itself to become a profitable venture at a time when the industry was finding it difficult to make money. In addition, the minister said they would not be looking at an Emirates – SriLankan Airlines style venture for the national carrier right now.
