Sajin Vass Gunawardena owns cargo plane
The Boeing 727 cargo airplane of Cosmos Lanka, owned by former supervisory MP Sajin Vaas Gunawardena, is without even a local registration certificate, reports say. Painted blue, white and red, the airplane has the wordings Cargo Lanka in it. It was brought to Sri Lanka in 2000 by a Tamil businessman by the name Medhan through unscrupulous means. Initially, it had been used as Aero Lanka for passenger transport between Ratmalana and Jaffna. After Medhan was accused in 2010 of having aided the LTTE, Sajin Vaas has taken the airplane under his charge. The airplane is presently being parked at the Katunayake airport, although parking fees are yet to be paid too.
