Any chance UL leasing those 7 years old A330-200s to replace our ageing A330-200 fleet?

Yeah I agree with you, UL may consider leasing some 6-7 years old CF6 powered A330-200s instead of brand new A350-900s. UL is not financially ready to take delivery of brand new aircraft. World leading airline like Turkish Airlines still operating the mid-aged fleet. Why not UL.

Report which came from Weliamuna Committee On SriLankan Airlines, reported that UL must have leased 4-6 years old A332/A333s to replace the ageing A343/A332s. The difference in the lease price between the A340-300's and the A330-200's was approx USD 550,000 per month or bit more. In the case of the A350-900's the difference was about USD 1 million higher per month.

Turkish Airlines is increasing IST-MLE-CMB flights from 5 weekly to Daily from 24 September 2015.

Mihin Lanka increasing Colombo-Lahore flights from 3 weekly to 5 weekly from 15 June 2015

Is there a way we can find out the utilisation of each aircraft in fleet. I guess before we think of getting new aircrafts and expanding fleet it is important to see how much aircrafts are given the run of the mill

Peter Hill to leave SriLankan for Fiji Airways

Former SriLankan Airlines CEO Peter Hill, who rejoined the national carrier in an advisory capacity this February, will be leaving his position to head Fiji Airways.

“Yes, he’s leaving because he was offered this position,” SriLankan Airlines Chairman Ajith Dias said.
Hill was the CEO of SriLankan from 1999 during its management by Emirates. However, his work visa was revoked in 2007, when he had refused to let former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and 35 close associates have seats on a fully booked flight from London to return from a private tour.

Since then, he had acted as the CEO of Oman Air until end of 2011, when he retired.

Fiji Airways has dismissed the online article published by UK tabloid the Daily Mirror stating that Peter Hill has left the SriLankan Airlines to head Fiji national airline.

But It's not a good news for UL if Peter Hill thinking to leave the position of consultant at UL. Why UL didn't re-appoint him as a CEO? UL seriously needs to appoint new CEO with an excellent experience of running an international airline. Can anyone list the improvements and issues within UL since M. Sirisena takeover the Sri Lanka Gov as a President.

There is no better solution than appointing Mr Hill as CEO of our bloke National Airline.

We should write this to Mr President and the Aviation Minisiter.

Surprised he wasn't appointed CEO considering his current availability. After all the government has appointed other CEOs of government institutions without missing a beat.

Also I thought the government was meant to be looking for a new CEO of UL with international airline experience.

even if he was offered, having learnt the hard way how difficult it is to manage people of UL who are very entrenched and not willing to accept any change, I am sure he would have felt being in that seat is going to be extremely stressful

Added to the fact that should MR get his control on the nation back, it will be very miserable. History repeats itself, if not learnt

As 4R-ABM back in service since yesterday it's been used on flights for Mumbai and Kochi. Before sent for maintanance, 4R-ABM mainly placed to serve far east destinations like Singapore and Kuala Lumpur with the seat config of 20J/120Y. May be UL has re-configured this aircraft to use it on Indian market where they have more demand for economy class. @Sakith - Do you know what is the new seat config of 4R-ABM? Are they planning to reconfigure rest of the new A320s (ABN, ABO, ABP) in the fleet? Any plans only using A332/A333s to Singapore and Kuala Lumpur? I feel UL fleet is currently under utilised so Flight Planner department has to re-plan the flight scedules to fully utilise the current fleet also to utilise the brand new A333s mainly on the high-yield routes. Guys, Any suggestions?

UL A320 J Class uncomfortable for Far East i have flew couple of time to KUL and BKK not satisfied.

All 320 aircrafts which we having 20/120 will be reconfigured to 16/120
