Would love to see them in LHR

Well, certainly not the ideal move for UL. All the other airlines replacing A346s with B777s for a reason. Today is the last ever China Eastern A340-600 flight (B-6055) is en-route Shanghai and B777 will replace it from tomorrow onwards.

        • SriLankan join hands with American Airlines

SriLankan Airlines has entered into a landmark code-sharing agreement with American Airlines, a founder member of the global airline alliance, a press release from SriLankan Airline said.

The release further said: The flag carrier of Sri Lanka became part of oneworld on 1 May 2014 as the first airline from the Indian sub-continent to join any of the global airline alliances, and has since then been offering the full range of the world’s most highly rated aviation groupings’ services and benefits. Its code-sharing agreement with American Airlines, the world’s biggest airline, is the fifth signed with its partners in oneworld since its addition to the alliance, with similar arrangements set in place in the past year with Finnair, Japan Airlines, Qantas, and Russia’s S7 Airlines, alongside an established accord with Malaysia Airlines.

Under the initial phase of their agreement, SriLankan’s UL designator will be placed on services operated by American Airlines on six transatlantic routes, connecting the US carrier’s Dallas/Fort Worth, Chicago O’Hare and New York JFK hubs with the European gateways of Frankfurt and Paris CDG, where they will provide seamless transfers with SriLankan’s own connections to and from its Colombo hub. These flights have been available for booking from 27th April 2015, for travel from 30th April 2015 -

Iberia, Lufthansa and SA have no issues, in fact, for their needs, the 340-600 is doing quite ok, with the disinterest in the nearest quad jet - 747..

Just because it doesn't meet airline A's needs doesn't mean it is bad for the rest of the world.

And the 340-600 is a sub-version of the 340 series.

Bad move! There is none of the American Airlines flights are operating on Frankfurt-New York and Frankfurt-Chicago sectors. Also SriLankan's flight arrival time is not the best to catch the Chicago flight via Paris because Paris UL flight arrival time is 09:00am but American's Chicago flight departs at 09:25am. Only SriLankan flight schedule are best for the Dallas flight connection via Frankfurt or Paris and New York flights via Paris. It seems to be SriLankan's London flight is targeting O/D traffic since the flight lands at London in the late afternoon by missing the north american and european connections.

As far as I know, 4R-ADE must be retiring in late 2015. What a waste they refurbished this A343 with brand new business class and new IFE in the economy classes few years back. If you look at the flight log, you can see 4R-ADE and 4R-ADF (ex-prez aft) mostly serving mostly Gulf countries. Rather than spending money on A343 cabin upgrade they would have done this cabin upgrade for some of the A332 (i.e 4R-ALG) which are serving longhaul routes and going to spend more years in the fleet.

They're going absolutely nowhere until this gets sorted out.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

Probably 4R-ADE on the C Check.

Probably thrown out. What a waste. If they're smart they'd get (or buy) the seats back and reinstall them in the A332s which currently don't have such seating in them.
