Long overdue if it turns out to be true, but equally concerning is the transfer of officials to UL... not sure what's the idea of bloating UL with more employees.

Completely agree because UL currently has the largest staff to aircraft ratio.
Wonder what would happen to the 4 aircraft though. Probably wiser to return the A319 (MRF) and the A320 (MRE) and replace ABK and ABL with MRC and MRD

The Airbus A319 is very useful on routes to Kolkata and Madurai.......MJ was doing really well on these routes

Prices might fall because word is out that BG is going to restart the DAC-CMB-DAC route

Its always good to see new colours in CMB. When did BG operated CMB route in the past? Is BG seriously going to operate CMB route this time ? BG have been talking about CMB operation for sometime but never been materialised. Could BG be able compete with Sri Lanka's 10 weekly flights.

How many times has this been announced? I've lost count.

Looks like the "shut down" is nothing but an integration of the 2 companies.

Some MJ Pilots have failed the selection previously at UL.
Some MJ Captains previously left UL and were not hired back.

Going to be a big mess no matter what happens imho.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

They operated for a short period of time in the 90's. Well they have the equipment (4 77Ws, 2 772s, 4 B738s, 2 A310s) for competing with MJ.

These articles are fairly new: http://bdnews24.com/bangladesh/2016/...colombo-flight

Bangladesh yesterday proposed developing a common platform for flow of remittance in the Saarc region and said Sri Lanka might

I did hint that there, supposedly, (didn't say that .. ) some residual income scheme ongoing in MJ, so there is no urgency to fix the problem. Fixing MJ will mean a lot of revenue sources for some will dry up pretty quickly.

The shutdown rumours of MJ are coinciding with the IMF bailout; so we can only hope that the bailout conditions stipulated some sort of cuts\shutdown on some wasteful public enterprises...

And the one sector the government can do something and also keep the public happy with the austerity measures is with MJ & UL.

Looks like we have another airline interested in the DAC-CMB route. Regent Airways (Bangladesh) too is considering operating flights to CMB most probably utilizing its Boeing 737-800

Their current fleet comprises of 1-738, 2-737's and 2-Q300's

Unfortunately any measures demanded by the IMF only hurt the poorest members of society. Examples:-

                            - Increase of the price of basic staples (such as Bread)
                            - Increase the price of fuel
                            - Increase taxes
                            - Devalue the currency.

There's loads online about how the IMF (and World Bank) operate. It's nothing but Debt Slavery imho.

That's good news. Regent is currently the best private airline in Bangladesh.
