    Maybe UL cancelled the order but Airbus hasn't removed it yet from its order book. Same happened for the conversion of 2 AirFrance A380s into 3 A350s. This has been revealed in the AirFrance finacial report of last year but hasn't been changed in the official order book.

    I wouldn't rely on the video; MSN52 would not have been painted in white if it has to be delivered in november this year.

    • Moody’s changes outlook on Sri Lanka’s rating to negative from stable

      Moody's Investors Service has affirmed the government of Sri Lanka's foreign currency issuer and senior unsecured sovereign ratings at B1 and changed the outlook to negative from stable.

      Some of these risks have already crystallized with the government taking responsibility for Sri Lankan airlines' (unrated) liabilities, worth Rs.461 billion or around 4% of GDP. These liabilities will inflate government debt, at least temporarily. We assume that the government will retain responsibility for some of these liabilities.

        Hi A350-XWB,

        Do you think TK will be benefitted by adding 3 x A350s? Do you think Airbus will provide training on A350 to TK pilots & engineers. I heard that UL engineers and pilots are already getting training on A350.

        UL is going to focus on regional operations. As per sources Sri Lanka had placed an order for below aircraft from Airbus. Do you know the delivery dates & MSNs for below order.

        6 = A320neos for UL - Lease Agreement with undisclosed lessor.
        2 = A321neos for UL - Lease Agreement signed with ALC in Jan 2015
        2 = A321neos for UL - Lease Agreement signed with Aercap in Jan 2015
        2 = A320neos for MJ - Lease Agreement signed with ALC in Feb 2015

          The A350 xwb deal is not yet cancelled. SriLankan is currently finding an alternative to bear up the cost to take them, as to leasing the a350 to Turkish is of no point, because they fly the aircraft, and SriLankan should still bear the cost even if they are flying. It would make no sense though, really. So this is what many senior executives of UL say, it's just spending their own money for another airline flying UL's aircraft, and in the end we receive the aircraft after it has been hacked. MSN 52 has been painted in full white is because the customer is still unclear, therefore AerCap is still not sure of who will take it. But to my guess, UL will take the A350

              Out of the 4 direct orders (of any of which are yet to be assembled) one is sold.

              Haleef is talking about the leased ones. As they are in various stages of assembly UL is running around like a headless chicken trying to offload them to someone as they can't get away easily without massive penalties.

              If the cost of offloading them is prohibitive it would make sense for UL to keep using them whilst they find a more attractive client to offload (sublease) them to.

                    Are they replacing the existing ones in the post? UL needs talented people in the management. Their HR, Marketing, IT etc are terrible.

                      UL would've converted the order with Aercap from A350 to narrowbody aircraft before MSN52/55/60 are coming to assembly.

                      Good thing Arjuna Ranathunga has done he converted the two B737 to two A320neo with ALC Leasing Co, as soon as the UL management has changed back in Feb 2015. Otherwise Gov would've ended up with additional costs in introducing Boeing.

                        UL is not a business - it's a Racket. The Racketeers are busily padding their bank accounts at the expense of the people of Sri Lanka. When it all falls apart they will run away overseas with their ill-gotten gains.

                        18 months of new government and not a single indictment - Sri Lanka is truely a Failed State.

                          Reliable sources say, the 3 lease A359 deal still on, Sri Lankan will take delivery of these from October this year. No takers at their price, so Sri Lankan will use the 3 aircrafts. They looking at selling the other 4.

                            Not sure if TK will benefit from those A359. Could be a good opportunity for TK to check out this great airplane though.
                            We think that TK would employ the UL engineers instead of sending their own if it is true that UL engineers have started their training.
