It looks like it flew as a nonstop if iam not mistaken. Looking forward to know the name of the airline going to operate fortcoming freighters on this CMB-LCK route

            CMB LCK Non stop ?

Almost all cargo flights do a tech stop. Cargo doesn't complain if they have to sit for hours some place

Why? Sounds like Sri Lanka is not a perfect market for China.

I checked now - Etihad B74F (N476MC) operating flight 5Y8765 from CMB to LCK had a stop over in HHN for 2 hours. These freighters have been operating once a weekly (every sundays) from CMB to LCK via HHN - effective 19-June.

                • Sri Lanka seeks investors for SriLankan Airlines

Sri Lanka has called offers from strategic investors to sell loss-making SrLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka, with BNP Paribas and KPMG appointed as transaction advisors.

NSB Fund Management, a unit of state-run National Savings Bank is the lead managers to the deal.

NSB Fund Management said by advertisement that 'invitations for expressions of interest' will be available until July 27 for a non-refundable fee of 5000 US dollars, and offers will close on August 24.

SriLankan Airlines had borrowed in international markets with Treasury guarantees and also taken credit from domestic state banks to fund losses.

The airline has been cutting routes on loss making routes to Europe and focussing on India and the Far East. With falling fuel prices, it also trimmed losses in 2015.

Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide Plc (BDJ) said its online marketplace would offer digital certification services at 5 dollars a gem and private keys with every gemstone listed.

More wishful thinking imho - nobody will touch this. Nobody will even waste $5000.

                    How bad is it?

Appointed people at all levels and functions from Secretary to Department Head all the way up to the CEO and Chairman. None of these people are remotely qualified for the positions they hold.

It has become a completely dysfunctional company - most people are just collecting salary + benefits. It's impossible to fire anyone.

Those that can are heading for the exits - most of the good people have already left.

UL needs to be thrown out of Oneworld as soon as possible - this company is an embarrassment to the Airline Industry.

It's all very quiet surrounding the A350 - my guess is that they've lost the $12 Million/aircraft deposit. So the taxpayers are on the hook for another $48 Million + whatever penalties apply for cancelling this order.

Both UL and MJ are finished - you can't operate like this. The only question is when the doors will close.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

                    • It's hurting a lot when they say 4R-ALL, 4R-ALM, 4R-ALN are "OLD". They are factory fresh and they joined the fleet less than two years.

Yeah but the cost is too high right to keep the A333. If they are able to sell/lease the wide bodies, restructure and cut costs. It will be a lot better.

                              Welcome to our forum!

Sure UL will loose the passengers if they operate the flights with an aged aircrafts. What's their restructure plan? Where they are going to expand? Any more aircraft joining the fleet for the expansion?

I am hearing one of the A333 leaving UL for PIA next month. Leaving day for other two not confirmed yet.

I can sense their desperation from here....

Knowing how things (don't) work within this dysfunctional Airline with it's toxic company "culture" I would expect that these new A330's are being leased above market rates.

Only an investigation will reveal if this is another racket or just incompetence. Highly doubtful that the truth will ever be revealed.

Restructure Plan? Not sure how anyone can expect anything from a bunch of appointed people - none of whom are remotely qualified for the positions they hold. There is no conceivable way to ever make this profitable.

Expect lots of Big Talk - that's all these people know how to do.

Expansion? With over a Billion $ in losses and 2 Billion $ + in future liabilities - which they have no way to pay. More losses for the people of Sri Lanka.

The only "expansion" taking place is in the size of the bank accounts of the Racketeers and the useless appointees.

It's quite simple. There is no money. The entire country is bankrupt - all the money has been spent or stolen.

                                No money = no options
                                No money = no expansion
                                No money = no future

The moment the Treasury stops putting in money this shuts down - could happen as early as October imho.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business
