Under the latest revision of Sri Lanka - UK bilateral, SriLankan has received seven extra rights to UK, while at the same time receiving 5th freedom rights for a daily flight between UK and Canada. (Source : Kflyer)

SriLankan is now waiting for a Sri Lanka - Canada Air-bileteral agreement is to be signed, which is currently on the discussion between Sri Lanka - Canada Authorities.

@ uwe1994 - SriLankan says Colombo - London - Toronto (YYZ) route will commence within 2011. I will post here when I get more information.

Following on the footsteps of the Boeing sales pitch made to woo SriLankan for its 777 passenger aircraft in January the rival European Airbus put on a marathon selling session of its own products on Friday at the Colombo Hilton.

Pakistan International Airlines starting 29MAR11 is reducing operation and capacity on its recently resumed Karachi – Colombo service.

The flight was resumed on 19FEB11, operating 3 times a week with Airbus A310. However, this changes to 2 weekly Boeing 737 aircraft from 29MAR11. Accompanied with the aircraft change, Business Class service will also be canceled.

                        Schedule below:

                        PK874 KHI1400 – 1800CMB 737 26
                        PK875 CMB1850 – 2145KHI 737 26

PK's CMB flight reduction is surprising me a bit. PK said that they will increase KHI-CMB flights to 5 weekly and launch LHE-CMB flights in 2011. Source.

@ Longranger - Yes, LX is codesharing on CMB route as per agreement Oct 08. WK flight numbers in Winter 2011 are to be WK62 and WK68.

@ Lordvader - A333 is a best choice for UL's CMB-FCO, MXP, NRT, China routes. However UL needs long range aircraft (B777) for routes like LON ...

The aircraft is ready, but it seems UL is delaying the delivery due to some readiness issues at their end. My understanding is still these aircrafts are operating from Koggala which may not be practical. Maye be they are dragging until the local govt elections are over. As someone else commented, even C-FBBA is not being fully utilized. The fisherman protest seems to be one part, but overall poorly planned project. Sad thing is whether used or not, they need to pay owners bills for the lease.

On UL's plans for Toronto, as a Sri Lankan living in Canada, I love to see UL flights to Toronto, but I am think UL must first regain lost markets like ZRH, AMS, SYD/MEL. Right now people in North America does not have lot of connection options from Europe. Flights to YYZ will not mean everybody in Canada or eastern US will fly to YYZ to catch UL flight to CMB via LHR. Just my personal opinion......
