Super Group ahead in race for SriLankan

Super Group Partners Company Ltd–a joint venture between Trans Maldivian Airways and the Singaporean ground-handling firm SATS–has scored highest among ten bidders vying for a management stake in cash-strapped SriLankan Airlines, an authoritative source told the Sunday Times.
Following at a close second is Peace Air, a company owned by businessman Gamini Wettasinghe

Not sure whatever happened to ANA, various other airlines and Blackrock investments. Probably the product of someone's very fertile imagination in the government. Very worrying for me is Peace Air surfacing again and in second place. They were there as a rivel bid when EK bid for UL as well then. With such ambitious plans in the past 25 years they never got off the ground whilst companies like Cinnamon Air, Expo Air etc have established themselves.

Having someone like this at 2nd place is very bad and if somehow they win they could end up driving UL to the ground.

Agree in regards to Peace Air. Also Trans Maldivian Airways is owned by Blackstone so maybe they'll use this bid to combine the airlines or something? However SATS bidding with Trans Maldivian Airways makes no sense to me.

SATS used to be part of the Singapore Airlines Group and was divested from SIA on 1 Sep 2009 & The company also changed its name from Singapore Airport Terminal Services Limited to SATS Ltd on 30 July 2010.

At Singapore Changi Airport, SATS handles 80% of scheduled flights and serves about 50 of the scheduled 68 airlines out of Singapore.

Blackstone Groups second-quarter profit rose from a year earlier, helped by buoyant credit and real-estate markets that boosted the value of its holdings.

According to the article Super Group Partners Company Ltd–a joint venture between Trans Maldivian Airways and the Singaporean ground-handling firm SATS wants an 80 percent stake in SriLankan.

It’s a very good deal with US$ 5 billion package for partnership…

Srilankan has announced wide body A330 200 flights to Dhaka , but still operate with A320 /321 ex Mihin Lanka , any information ? .
Mihin Lanka did very well on this route with weekly 10 flights .

Maybe they are taking full use of these ex-MJ aircraft before they are returned to the lessor in January

More routs to Africa ,Australia on cards . I think Srilankan should fly to Nairobi ,Addis Ababa and connect chinese traffic trough Colombo

As far as I know, SriLankan Airlines is looking at serving the destinations in East Africa via Seychelles onboard A320 aircraft.

If i'm not mistaken, SriLankan Airlines is going to extend the lease of A330-200. Am I correct ?

Confusing , if Srilankan need A 330 ,why they sub lease brand new A330 300 to PIA . After add them to the fleet skytrax rating were improved for Srilankan .A330 200's are pretty old .After cancellation of A 350 , how they will replace A330 200's . Is it by A321 NEO ?.
I think A350 is a bad idea .A330- 300 would be the ideal widebody for Srilankan .
