The lessor for 4R-ALS is Hifly. May be the lease agreement was signed with Hifly after the cancellation of 4 x A359s with Aercap.

UL CEO said on one of the interview UL will have 13 x A32# and 10 x A330s by end of the year 2017.

I think its due before the end of this year. ALA & ALB if i am not mistaken.

I also remember reading somewhere that UL took on another A330 as part of its compensation package for cancelling the 350 order with Aercap. So I assumed they must be linked. Not sure though.

This aircraft CS-TFZ seems to have had more operators than a car which is 20 years old. Hope it is in good shape and also saw some photos and the seating configuration seems to be 3-3-3 in EY. Please confirm.

SriLankan Airlines may begin a revamp within six months

A plan to restructure SriLankan Airlines is expected to take flight within six months, the airline’s chief commercial manager, Siva Ramachandran, told The Hindu here on Wednesday.

U.S.-based firm Texas Pacific Group has been proposed as the most suitable partner for the project from among the three short-listed bidders out of a total of 10, he said. Under the public-private-partnership, the selected investor will have 49% stake and the remaining 51% will be with Sri Lankan government. At present, the airline is fully-owned by the government with 1.5% stake with banks and staff.

“The airline management will change hands to the selected investor and there will be no interference from the government in the new dispensation”, Mr. Ramachandran said unveiling the road map to make the debt-ridden national airline a global leader.

The Srilankan Cargo, Ground Services, SriLankan Catering Private Ltd — a fully-owned subsidiary of the airline, SriLankan Engineering that takes care of the maintenance, repair overhaul activities, SriLankan Aviation College and the SriLankan Holidays, the leisure arm of the airline, will be under the new dispensation.

The hub of the SriLankan airlines operations is from Bandaranaike International airport in Colombo. It provides connections to its global network of 101 destinations in 47 countries in Europe, the Middle East, South Asia, the Far East, North America, Australia and Africa.

If CS-TFZ coming as a compensation package then will it stay in the SriLankan fleet for 12 years. In 2013, SriLankan actually signed to lease 4 x A359s from Aercap on the 12 years dry-lease.

As Mach3 mentioned in the above post I am bit concerned about the condition of the interior and exterior of the aircraft. Currently it has the interior of Hi Fly and the high density config as 42J 288Y. It has seen many airline operators on the wet lease on its past 8 years.

To add to what banuthev said, this aircraft is already 9 years old so if it is leased to UL for 12 years then by the time UL phases this aircraft out it would 21 years old and in another 12 years the A330-200 would be out dated with the introduction of A330neo, this is a step back by UL since they are planning to use this aircraft for 12 years they really should have taken the initiative to go for A330-800neo rather than a work horse A330-200 although we have to take into account the addition cost that would be caused by crew familiarisation and aircraft's added cost.

UL Should have got 2 or 3 A320/1 instead of a A332.

AirAsia from August 2017 plans to expand Kuala Lumpur – Colombo service, where it currently operates 10 weekly flights. From 08AUG17, the airline will increase operation to 14 weekly.

As I Know UL had ordered 8*A350s and canceled only 4*A350s............
If it is true.....................
Does anyone know about the date of first delivery of the one of these aircrafts?

Is new A330-200 4R-ALS, having new business class like A330-300 or having old business class on 4R-ALA/B/C/D/H/J. Or it is using old high density configuration from Hi-Fly.

If the article is correct then there is nothing good about this - people need to read carefully and realise what is being said.

The Maintenance/Catering/Cargo/Ground Services/Holidays and Aviation College (the profitable divisions) are what will be operated under this plan - not the Airline.

If this is the case it's just another Racket - 49% of the profits going to a Private entity with various Politicians/"Businessmen"/Cronies/Affiliated Scum getting a piece of the action.

The result will be more losses for the Airline and by extension the people of Sri Lanka.

According to SL Gov, the decision on taking delivery of 4 x A359s from Airbus is all down to the new management which is going to takeover SriLankan Airlines.
