Will it be a profitable route for UL?
I think UL should fly to ADDIS ABBA , Etipoean economy is growing and lots of Chinese investment is there , specially textile investments are increasing and Srilankan expat community may grow

4R-ALR has been flying since yesterday, as per FR24. I believe it was away from service for maintenance for short time.

Any idea when did the 4R-ALC was active for the last time?

          • Lol -"At risk of colossal losses".

            - Taking delivery of aircraft that are not needed.
            - 12 year leases with no termination clause.
            - Leases at above market rates making it impossible to make money.
            - Being forced into expansion because the aircraft are coming no matter what.
            - Loss of EASA145 certification which is being kept very quiet....
            - Rogue CEO's Melbourne flights for which there is no market.

I'd say colossal losses are inevitable.

Anyone think it's a good idea to investigate all of the above? Your Politicians certainly don't.
Always fly a stable approach - it's the only stability you'll find this business

                • Monarch Airlines is considering to return to long haul operations. Any chance they resuming the seasonal flights to Colombo ? in the past they served Colombo from both Manchester and Gatwick. Thomson Airways already operating Gatwick-Colombo every once a week onboard B787 in every Winter seasons. Love to see another British Airline to land in Colombo. Any idea why still no seasonal airline hasn't come forward to connect Paris-Colombo and Frankfurt-Colombo ?

The Committee on public accounts has informed the government to cancel the manufacture order for four aircraft which SriLankan Airlines had proposed to purchase.

Chairman of COPE MP Sunil Handunnetti announced today, September 22, that the committee informed him to provide this advise to the government.

It was decided in 2013 to purchase four A350-900 aircraft and to lease three more aircraft of the same model for SriLankan Airlines. Orders were placed for this transaction to be carried out and the current government decided to cancel the agreement once it came into power.

The deliveries of four A350-900 from Airbus to SriLankan Airlines starts from 2019. I think SriLankan better change the A350 order to A330 and A320 if they think A350 is too expensive for them to operate. it has to be done earliest possible before Airbus start the production of SriLankan's A350.
