Sri Lankan Airlines to double flights from GCC states to Colombo
A substantial increase in inbound traffic, especially from the GCC, has encouraged Sri Lankan Airlines to nearly double their flight frequency to Colombo from the different destinations in the region.
“We have seen almost 43.2 per cent increase in passengers coming into Colombo from the GCC states,” Lal Perera, Sri Lankan Airlines Regional Manager for Middle East and Africa, said at a media briefing on Sunday night at the Al Falaj Hotel.
He added that the airline had decided to double its frequency from Muscat to Colombo.
“We have increased flights from Doha to Colombo from five to seven in a week,” he revealed. The airline will also operate daily flights from Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Kuwait. “We are trying to increase number of flights to five between Colombo and Riyadh and Jeddah.”

Dear All
I am new to this forum. It is nice to see a separate forum for Srilankan Aviation. I am having a query... Hope this is the right place to ask.
We, 1.4 millions of people from Madurai, India and 20 millions of surrounding district peoples are eagerly waiting for Srilankan airlines to start their first service. Through UL we can connect with many countries by taking connecting flight with excellent in-flight service & entertainment at affordable cost.
It seem like that day is very closer. Srilankan airlines put a stall in a Trade fair which is under progress in Madurai stating we are connecting soon. Everything seems good, but we are very eager to know more information about the flight timing, start date etc., Can any one very close to SLA provide us more details about it? Your information are highly appreciated. Thanks
Here are the pictures from the trade fair:
