After the demise of Jet Airways, KLM will fly to Bangalore and suspend Colombo, Sri Lanka
Provisional closure of Colombo, Sri Lanka
In order to be able to open Bangalore as a new destination, changes must be made to the KLM network. Partly due to Schiphol’s final restrictions, KLM is being forced to revise its portfolio of destinations earlier than usual.
For this reason, the direct connection to Colombo, Sri Lanka, will be temporarily suspended at the end of October. Recent developments and economic prospects in Sri Lanka have led to commercial pressure on flights to Colombo.
From October 2016, KLM flew alternately to Colombo two to three times a week during the winter season. Passengers with a ticket for a flight from Amsterdam to Colombo and vice versa with a departure on or after 28 October 2019 will be rebooked or financially compensated.

FitsAir successfully soars with ATR 72-200
A clear, bright and sunny sky eagerly awaited as FitsAir’s ATR 72-200 aircraft departed Bandaranaike International Airport on its proving flight on 5 April. Operated for the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL), the aircraft began its journey at 1450 hours and arrived in Batticaloa with 25 minutes of departure.
The 70-seater aircraft’s Flight Crew was headed by Captain Zaw Hein and First Officer Kyaw Soekya, both who have over 4,000 and 2,500 hours of experience respectively, who ensured the safe flight of all 46 passengers on board which included the Chairman, the Director General/CEO, the Deputy Director General, Head of various divisions and many Senior Inspectors of the CAASL and the Deputy Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services Ltd. (AASL).
The aircraft was skilfully navigated on a smooth course at an altitude of 14,000 feet whilst the four cabin crew members attired in their attractive uniforms in red, black and white served passengers with light refreshments and cold beverages. All cabin crew members who were part of this flight were previously employed with other international airlines.
During the in-flight service, CAASL inspectors staged a variety of emergency scenarios to test the cabin crew which were handled with the utmost expertise and professionalism. These emergency situations were conducted not just during the flight but were carried out and successfully executed upon landing as well which earned the cabin crew excellent evaluations for their professional performance both on the ground and in-flight.
The return flight departed at 1640 hours, landing back at BIA at 1732 hours, and concluded with heartfelt applause from every passenger.
FitsAir will be regularly scheduling flights to Jaffna, Batticaloa, and Trincomalee all departing from BIA, catering to the continuous demand of traveling to Eastern and Northern Sri Lanka. This means that the corporate and tourist sectors will be able to travel faster and enjoy Sri Lanka a whole lot more.
Additionally, the 70-seater ATR-72 and the 12-seater Cessna Grand Caravan aircraft will be included in the fleet for all domestic charter flights departing from BIA or Colombo based Domestic Airport at Ratmalana.
FitsAir looks forward to bringing Sri Lanka more aviation wonders, soon

SL is not safe and it has never been...I tell most of my friends down here if they want travel well there are better places to visit no need to travel all the way down there nothing to see...if you want beaches try Maldives, Malaysia, Thailand, Caribbean or Queensland
safari try east africa or south africa (might see some real animals)
food try malaysia or singapore
CMB is a dump...everyone is there to fleece the foreign national from govt (by overt and covert taxes) to tuk tuk driver
Bangalore is the the hub for South Indian region and Male,MV can survive on its own

...if Sri Lanka is so safe why everyone want to leave/migrate and i think you did as well...
and here are some safety related issues.

China already lifted travel restrictions on Srilanka.
What you posted above is random attacks and I am completely against such attacks.
Migrating to another country is a personal choice not solely due to safety issues.

I don't care what China say...I follow democratic countries and their principle; which are far superior like freedom that's one reason you are here otherwise you will be in China...I assume that you have never read the safety and security tab inside the travel advisory before the terrorist attack
really personal choice...and what that could be economic...(which in turn related to security and safety...poor economic record due to poor safety and security of the country)
I tell all my friends the truth even how much bitter they are never varnish gloss or veneer...thats what true friends do and that why they like me been truthful...sometime truth hurts.
Anyway this is an aviation thread...and more airlines will pull out and reduces already operating frequencies going forward. Bangalore is the hub for South IndiaLast edited by Speedbird; 26-05-2019, 06:49 PM.

The country (it's people and first res-ponders) are doing its best to rebuild and get life back to normal and infact it already has done quite an exceptional job to contain the situation though the fact that we have political pawns like you is what makes life a living nightmare.
With all due respect migration is the commoners goal to a greener life.
Mind you escalating threats from radical groups are bred by governments globally particularly the west!! Canada is no safe haven..
It amuses me of how you think it's morally right to belittle/tarnish Sri Lanka when you and I know it's just so that you could let your hate foster.
No doubt you may have been at disadvantage with the kind of constitution we have in our country (I mean who hasn't) but it doesn't give you the right to trash SriLanka.
You may be OK with migrating and mooching off of someone elses fame but how dare you give us the ethics lesson.
It's appalling to say the least that many consider voicing ones grievances as a form of free speech and to take it as a social norm to channel ones anger through recommendations based on individual conclusions BUT that's exactly what's wrong with this world!!
Its an absolute waste of energy to put an effort to get folks like you to lead by example hence its best to say what you desire which "AS PER YOUR LOGIC IF COLOMBO IS A DUMP" - SO IS THE WOMAN WHO BIRTHED YOU!!
