  • Also a new member here. Beginning to find the Sri Lanka aviation very interesting. Especially because of the political and economic changes in the recent years.

Some of you might know that the huge software developer, Microsoft, have made a gaming series called Microsoft Flight Simulator. In this game/simulator you are the pilot of a plane and you can fly where ever you want in the whole world. No matter if it's a small single engine plane above Sri Lanka or in a B747 flying across the Atlantic Ocean or Pacific Ocean.

In the recent versions of the game/simulator, there has been an feature where you can add flying traffic to the virtual skies.

Many users want to get some of the real world airlines into their game/simulator. So some members have made models of the real world aircrafts, painted these models into the colors of the real airlines and then some members have made if all come alive by making flightplans, based on the airlines released schedules.

This also includes Sri Lanka, where both SriLankan Airlines and Mihin Lanka have been made. So in my FS I can see SriLankan Airlines, Mihin Lanka or more or less any other airline in the world, flying in and out of the airports they visit in the real world.

I'm one of the members making the flightplans from the real world schedule. Currently I'm working on SriLankan Airlines, which is a whole new territory for me. The closest I've ever been to Sri Lanka (when making flightplans for Flight Simulator) is Druk Air from Bhutan. That's quite a few miles away from Sri Lanka, I know.

But at the same time I'm also a making what is called repaints. That's basically the liveries that you see on the models flying around in Flight Simulator.

And to give the best result you need some recent pictures/photos of the plane you are painting.

But sadly for SriLankan Airlines A320 it is very hard to get recent pictures.

When I searched for pictures, I came across this forum and especially this topic. It has given me many valuable informations that I'll use for both the flightplan and the repaints.

My main problem is the A320 with the registration 4R-ABK. I can only found very few pictures of it and I really need to know if it has a sticker (could be Visit Sri Lanka 2011 or the Hambamtoto 2018 logo) on it's left side, you know the side of the airport where the passengers are boarding the plane.

Anyone that can provide me with info about this?

Also... If anyone know if other A320's apart from 4R-ABM has got the URL changed from .aero to .com? What I can find is that only 4R-ABM has the .com, but I'm not sure about it.

I really must say that the SriLankan Airlines livery is one of the finest and most beautiful liveries I've ever seen. Especially the Red-Orange-Green Peacock Bird on the tail, is really a nice logo.

    Thanks in advance

I am new to this forum. It is nice to see a separate forum for Srilankan Aviation. I am having a query... Hope this is the right place to ask.

We, 1.4 millions of people from Madurai, India and 20 millions of surrounding district peoples are eagerly waiting for Srilankan airlines to start their first service. Through UL we can connect with many countries by taking connecting flight with excellent in-flight service & entertainment at affordable cost.

It seem like that day is very closer. Srilankan airlines put a stall in a Trade fair which is under progress in Madurai stating we are connecting soon. Everything seems good, but we are very eager to know more information about the flight timing, start date etc., Can any one very close to SLA provide us more details about it? Your information are highly appreciated. Thanks
SriLankan Airlines would introduce direct flight from Sri Lanka to Madurai, most probably from January 15.

from Mihin Lanka facebook fan page.....
Some guy asked ''Is it true that Mihin will discontinue operations in MLE soon...???Please let me know as i am planning to reserve a flight for next Jan''
and the admin answered ''Yes we are discontinuing our flights to Male as our sister airline continues to fly to Maldive on a daily basis...''

the last Mihin flight bound to MLE (MJ101) departs today(24th Dec) according to its online reservation system.

                  • Another thing about MLE flights; It looks like that China Eastern has received traffic rights between CMB and MLE.
MU flights could be booked by most of the international booking sites.
MU 713 and 714 have lined up to offer the cheapest fare (approx.19,000LKR) on the sector.

Yes , Mihin is discontinuing the Malé flights from today or tomarrow because Mihin has decided to codeshare on the Malé route with SriLankan. I think Mihin Lanka should stop operating the routes served by SriLankan Airlines.
