Airline Passenger Experience - Regional Choice Awards
SriLankan Airlines received yet another global accolade based on passenger ratings when it won the Passenger Choice Award for ‘Best Wi-Fi for Central Asia’ from the Airline Passenger Experience Association (APEX) at the Future Travel Experience Asia Awards 2019 held in Singapore recently.

Vipula Gunatilleka, CEO of SriLankan, said: “We are delighted to receive yet another award from APEX. Sri Lanka’s National Carrier received the award at the Future Travel Experience Asia Expo which was held on 13th November 2019 at Marina Bay Sands Expo and Convention Centre. At the same event, SriLankan Airlines was re-awarded its ‘Four Star Major Airline 2020’ Official Airline Rating which was presented at the APEX EXPO held in Los Angeles earlier this year.

Chairman for several state institutions have been selected, reports claimed. Accordingly, chairmen for Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, Board of Investment and Sri Lankan Airlines have been selected.

Kimali Fernando, a key figure in banking and finance sector, daughter in law to Meril J Fernando, owner of Dilmah Tea, has been appointed as Chairman of Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority. Fernando was also the former chief executive officer of Pan Asia Bank. She was nominated as chairman for People's Bank prior to selecting her as Chairman for Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority, however, given controversies erupted in her tenure as CEO to Pan Asia Bank, the decision was later changed, according to reports.

Former Chairman of Keels, Susantha Rathnayake has been appointed as Chairman of Board of Insvestment. Rathnayake was a former chairman of Ceylon Tea Board and a former chairman of Sri Lanka Commerce Board. He also served as a board member in the board of directors of Sri Lankan Airlines, and is a well experienced individual in the business sector.

Founder of Softlogic Group, Asok Pathirage, known conqueror in the business world, has been appointed as Chairman of Sri Lankan Airlines.

4R-ALS flying today on CMB-DOH-CMB sector as UL 217/UL 218

He is a capable guy. Hope he could do some goodwork to revive the Airline.

UL may have a good potential for Colombo- Sydney route and also forward Indian connections.

yes.. not just Indian... UL should target both Kathmandu and Dhaka as well... see those two are also pleasing..

UL is already connecting Dhaka and it is matter of connecting Kathmandu, sometime back Himalayan was travelling here connecting KTM-CMB-KTM route

ALJ isn't flying since the 5th - does that mean its leaving the fleet too?

Yeah. Its currently in hanger for maintenance. Lease return check will commence in January 2020

Do we have a replacement?

Dont know about that. But I guess We do not have any replacements soon
