As far as I remember it's the same 4R-AND which undergo an engine swap at the factory after some engine trouble while testing. Is it the black sheep in the fleet?

    • Russia’s national airline Aeroflot has suspended its scheduled flight to Sri Lanka with a group of Russian tourists.

Airport and Aviation Services Chairman Major General G. A. Chandrasiri told Colombo Gazette Sri Lankan authorities have been informed that the flight has been suspended until next Thursday (31).

He said the flight carrying Russian tourists was set to arrive in Sri Lanka on Sunday (27) as part of the Government’s attempts to reopen Sri Lanka for foreign tourists amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

I’m more concerned about the BIA’s reopening, will they postpone the opening date?

Lets wait and see. Air Astana doesn't have 300 seater aircraft like mentioned in the news.

MaldIves haven’t stated anything about banning flights yet but if it happens UL might pull back the service.
I think freighter service to EU will continue but for pax there will be changes. Only time will tell.

The Maldives still haven't banned the flights from the UK and UL flights are still in operation to LHR via MLE.

Maldives tourism is booming in the middle of COVID 19. Around 5000 tourists visit Maldives daily. They have less restrictions. Unlike Srilanka they can implement it due to the reason of most attractions are in remote islands far away from Main island. Lots of European carriers have increased their frequency to MLE. BA operates daily flights to MLE

UL still operate direct flights to LHR. It could be only cargo

I wonder why Sri Lanka didn't adopt the same tactic like the Maldives without banning the UK tourists. Helicopter flights would've operated from CMB or HRI directly to the tourists resorts in Sri Lanka with less restrictions.
