According to UL's last RFP to lease 5 A330s, (If the RFP was a success) ALT ( the next A330 aircraft) will join the fleet by the end of may this year.

I think Srilankan Should terminate the lease on ANA, she was grounded that it should be. I hope ANE,ANF will come back to service soon otherwise Srilankan has to pay USD 2M for all 5 grounded A320/1 neosLast edited by RUM2004; 22-04-2023, 05:24 AM.

Yes, Grounded aircrafts are narrow bodies while we need new widebodies to replace aging A330s, I'd say aircrafts were grounded due to political interference just like what happned with A350 deal.

SriLankan Airlines (UL, Colombo Int'l) is seeking five second-hand A320 Family aircrafts and the same number of A330s for a six-year dry lease.
I wonder why do UL need those 5 more narrow bodies when already 5 narrow bodies are grounded and paying their lease payments. Can't UL sort the engine repairs for the current narrow bodies fleet instead of ordering more narrow bodies?

SriLankan Airlines has denies claims that some of its flights have been grounded over financial issues.
21April 2023; Colombo – SriLankan Airlines would like to clarify the circumstances of the five grounded aircraft in response to certain recent misleading news items that have been published on the subject.
The aircraft, belonging to the Airbus A320 NEO family, are currently awaiting engines after shop visits as the global industry faces a shortage of engines and long lead times for engine repairs for this type of aircraft as a result of a technical reliability issue.
SriLankan Airlines is currently working with its suppliers to work out a solution and the global supply of engines is also expected to improve in the months ahead. SriLankan Airlines can therefore confirm that the aircraft are on ground owing to a global shortage and not because of a lack of finances as incorrectly stated in some news reports.
