    A319 would be ideal!
It should be utilized on CMB-JAF-MAA sectors

    TRZ is also another option

Seems very likely that FitsAir will expand their route network… Along with the proposed additional flights to DXB they should increase MAA to double daily and increase their presence in India

SriLankan Airlines plans to launch domestic flights

For the first time in the aviation history of Srilankan Airlines, the carrier is planning to introduce scheduled domestic flights to Jaffna, SriLankan CEO Richard Nuttall said.

He said that the Colombo-Jaffna route looks a very profitable route as many people including Diaspora and tourists wish to visit Jaffna and air link is the quickest way to link the two cities. “There may also be connections to India and to Sri Lankan routes from the Indian market. We are awaiting clearance from the Palaly airport and are looking to lease an A319 aircraft which is small in size and can land at the Jaffna airport.”

(The A319 carries 124 to 156 passengers and has a maximum range of 3,700 nmi (6,900 km; 4,300 mi).

He said that he was surprised to note that there were ‘serious talks’ to permit an Indian carrier to fly to Jaffna also to operate flights to Ratmalana. “Such permission to operate to domestic destinations is never given anywhere in the world.”

SriLankan does not have permission to have an additional stop over destination when flying to Indian destinations. “Hence, how can the vice versa work out?”

Nice to hear Fitsair is going to increase Dubai flights from 7 to 11 weekly from next month. Does Fitsair have more expansion plans?

This is a good business in airline industry, but its not good for UL's business model, UL is the national airline and its a full service airline, this will fit for Fitsair. according to my opinion UL should not start regional flights.

Vey good! CMB- JAFF- CMB won’t make the cut. Will have to fly out of JAFF to an Indian destination definitely. using a turboprop would be idle but UL been an all Airbus operator A319 makes sense (commonality).
Will take a big chunk of local traffic from Cinnamon and DPA as well.
              let’s see how this goes.

Indigo is going to fly HYD-CMB from 2 Nov 2023, every Mon,Tue, Th, Fr, Sa & Sun. No flights on Wednesdays.

                    Flight Timetable
                    6E1181 - 12:00 - 14:00 HYD-CMB
                    6E1182 - 15:00 - 17:00 CMB-HYD

UL is already flying almost daily flights on this route. Does Indigo have enough demand to fly 6 weekly?

                      • Srilankan Airlines long haul flights are experiencing heavy delays

During last few days few SriLankan flights from London, Sydney and Frankfurt were delayed for over 12 hrs ,

UL 504 from London delayed around 16 hrs on Sep 15th. UL 503 reached LHR earlier than scheduled. Due to night curfew in Heathrow usually flights won't depart after 11.30 pm
UL 607 from Sydney delayed almost 24 hrs on Sep 16th. UL 606 reached Sydney around 30 minutes late.
UL 501 from Frankfurt delayed around 21 hrs on Sep 17th. UL 501 is a triangular flight flying CMB-CDG-FRA-CMB. This was delayed around 4 hrs from Colombo due to non avaiability of an aircraft , then 8 hrs at CDG and 21 hrs at FRA. I took this flight in the past and it is always late. The main reason for delay at CDG and FRA is due to ground handling. FRA Airport also do not allow flights after 11 pm. Running a triangular route fro CDG and FRA is not a good option but running probably due to shortage of A 330s
UL 454 to Tokyo is late around 8 hrs by the time writing this thread on Sep 18th. UL 225 to DXB has been cancelled. This is usually a fully packed segement

It seems that pilot shortage is creating some Airbus 330 cancellations recently as well. All the 330 aircrafts are fully used by Srilankan Airlines and there are no extra aircrafts to be utilised in the event of minor maintenance issues thus causing delays. This is not going to be good for the future of the carrier and Skytrax has lots of bad reviews about the Airline too. Until Airline is privatized this chaos may prevail for some time in the future. UL need more aircrafts and also has be modern like 330 neo, 350s

Idk, but afaik they should have gotten newly leased aircraft given they released rfp's for the a330 a few months ago
