Nice to see many new airlines are heading to Sri Lanka. It’s a positive move. Hopefully more airlines will follow on coming months.

                  • Seems like AK has reduced frequency from KUL-CMB flights, from seven to two weekly (AK45) and from seven to five weekly (AK47).. I think this is due to UL starting its 9 weekly service from KUL TO CMB? please correct me if im wrong..

Also, seems like CMB is picking up traffic at a great pace! sitting at almost 599 departures today.. I'm hopeful it will exceed 600 soon!

Seems like Chinese tourists are starting to prefer CMB over MLE as MU has reduced flights from PVG to MLE from 5 to 2 weekly and CMB is steady at around 7 weekly. I wonder why this is happening? but this is still good for the SL tourism industry.

                      • According to this youtube video, which was published on the 2nd of November 2024, it seems like 4R-ALT will be getting delivered this month, possibly most likely after or before the election, UL will have a total of 25 aircraft by 2025, so this could mean that 4R-ALT, ALU, ALV will be getting delivered this year. Can someone confirm this?

                        Thank you...

Thanks for sharing the video with us. Sorry i don't understand sinhala. Is this video saying anything about returning ANB, AND, ANE back to service?

According to PlanespottersNet, 4R-ALT status shows as Due - Stored. I believe the 4R-ALT is ready for collection. But some delays from UL collecting the aircraft if i am not mistaken.

                            Hi banu,

I don't really understand Sinhala that well, but i'll try and summarize what they said in the video.

They were explaining about UL, what cities they serve and also future plans, which includes getting 25 aircraft by 2025, 3 new aircraft will be of the A330 family.
During the video, I also saw 4R-ALL undergoing a C check from inside of the 747 hanger, and also saw 4R-ABL receiving some type of check.

This video also explained UL's technicians future potential, how they are fixing aircraft, and overall it was about them.

I don't think they mentioned ANB,AND, ANE unfortunately but I also saw a NEO aircraft parked, with its cockpit windows covered.

Someone please add on if they have more information and if they can understand Sinhala better, but this is the best i could do.

ANB, AND and ANE are (I think) having issues with the LEAP engine. I saw one of them having its engines off just outside the 747 hanger(in june though).
all are shown in planespotters as stored since below dates:.
