I think UL should be concentrating now on replacing all A343s from the fleet rather than taking delivery of additional aircraft and ground them because of the fuel price. Also Introducing Boeing in their fleet will cost more money e.g. training ... It will be better if UL order both A332 & A333 to replace A343s. Correct me if I am wrong ?

A330-300
The A330-300 is based on a stretched A300 fuselage 63.69 m (208 ft 11 in) long but with new wings, stabilisers and fly-by-wire systems. The -300 carries 295 passengers in a three-class cabin layout, 335 in two-class, or 440 in a single-class layout. It has a range of 10,500 km (5,700 nmi).
It has a large cargo capacity, comparable to that of Boeing 747s. It is powered by the choice of two General Electric CF6-80E, Pratt & Whitney PW4000, or Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines, all of which are ETOPS-180 rated.
As of December 2011, 554 -300s had been ordered, 384 of which had been delivered, with 382 in operation.
The 2011 list price is $222.5 million.

It is kind if sad to hear that UL withdrawing from European routes with significant numbers (LHR and now latest news on ZRH and MXP/FCO). Earlier there was news on certain European charter services also discontinuing CMB service from next winter. I don't think the reason for cut downs is purely empty seats but overall operational cost with negative bottom line numbers.
Now the question is, who will fill the gap with additional seats ?
My guess is it will be the bunch of Middle Eastern carriers such as Emirates/Qatar/Ethihad/Gulf etc.
Any possibility of a EU mainline carrier/s filling these gaps in near future?
