The government pays US $ 7.7 million as monthly lease rental for 21 air craft employed by the SriLankan Airlines, said a document tabled, in Parliament yesterday, by Civil Aviation Minister Piyankara Jayaratne.
Mihin Lanka too had obtained two aircraft on lease basis and their monthly rental stands around at US $ 475,000, the report said.

Mihin Lanka hopes to fly daily to Dhaka in the near future increasing facilities to the travelers.
"We have received encouraging response from Bangladesh market which led us to increase our flights to four in October 30 of 2011 and added the fifth frequency very recently-on March 30 this year," Kapila Chandrasena, Chief Executive Officer of the airline told a press meet at a city hotel on Thursday.
He said Mihin Lanka started its Bangladesh operations on December 11, 2010 with three flights paving the way for direct air services after a long interval. Bangladesh is an important destination for Sri Lanka in terms of business potential and also tourism growth.Comment

1. UL has not been paying the leases on their aircrafts as above.
2. UL does not pay for fuel as CPC foots the bills (on credit basis, but they never get paid).
