And yes, CMB can be a LCC regional hub, what more airlines do you think should introduce flights to CMB (including Premium and Low cost carriers)?
F3 looking for expansion to India in 2025. Are they also interested in flying to CMB?

          Good morning,
I heard from an executive at F3 that they will possibly be expanding to SL in the future, I hope to get back to you soon with more information regarding this. As of now they are still in the planning stage and they are considering on whether to expand to SL or not.

          Thank you.

                Good morning,

Hello, I am certain that they will fly from RUH to CMB since F3 is seeking approval from the Saudi government to expand to regions, I am not sure about flights to JED or DMM. I will update you when I have more information.

                Thank you.

I see TRV listed on the 8D website. Commencement date seems 24-Dec. Operational days : Tu, Th, Su. But schedule not loaded yet.

How UL is currently performing with passenger load on CMB-RUH, CMB-DMM sectors ? How was the passenger load on CMB-JED before UL cancel the route? Does these routes have premium and business traffic?

                          Hi Banu,

After long time since i was not well, hope everyone is doing fine!
Regarding these new routes, no updates yet, TRV is listed in the website, but its not sure, struggling with ground handling and other work at TRV.
However with the effect from 18th Dec 24 to 29th March 25, updated Winter schedule is attached!

                          • When talking about 8D/EXV,

Entire fleet is still under breakeven utilisation, continuing losses (even in October),
Usually a 12-15 yrs old A320 should be utilised at least 300hrs approx per month to reach breakeven (in-order to cover fixed costs), EXS is grounded due to maintenance and spare parts, EXR and EXQ is operational but both are around 250hrs per month.

No more plans to get more planes since 3 is enough to cover the current and planned routes. Currenlty looking for frequeny increment for current destinations specially DXB MLE MAA.
Load factor of all above destinations are above 75% (Even EK overall load factor is lower, UL loadfactor is higher than this 75%) which is a good thing but still fixed costs are a huge portion of costs.

internally 8D doesnot want to compete with UL, but externally it seems like as everyone say, because typical Sri Lankan citizens or frequent flyers are costs/price sensitive, (They fly even without seats if possible) (So UL should focus about foriegn premium market EU, Australia, Middleeast, Far east meanwhile 8D can focus on India/LK/Bangladesh)

                              Good morning,

Hello, most people who travel on CMB-RUH and CMB-DMM sectors are Sri Lankan Expats who travel to Saudi and other gulf states for work purposes, as far as I am aware, Passenger load on those sectors are good, especially during winter season because of Sri Lankans returning home after working. So far Pax load on CMB-RUH is around 90% on average and CMB-DMM is around 85%.

I'm unsure of what is going to happen during this past few days, But I am hoping that management at UL will investigate the contract as soon as possible. But I have heard that 4R-ALT will be getting delivered this month, or maybe even the early next month, but we will have to wait and see..
4R-ALT did a test flight again today but as VP-CRQ.
