London's Heathrow airport closed after emergency landing

British Airways said on Friday that a A319 plane bound for Oslo from London's Heathrow airport was forced to make an emergency landing after a fault in one of the engines.

Now they are saying that the mechanics had forgotten to properly screw on a part of the engine before departure, leading to the accident during take off. Therefore, this is not a fault of Airbus, but British Airways.

Today - United B787 flight UA125 aborted their take-off due to some reason . Aircraft Reg : N26906.

Great! All the 787 needs now is more technical problems. Hopefully it is just something routine and minor. It would be really bad for Boeing if there was another set of widespread problems with this aircraft. In the mean time, it seems that all of the other operators of the 787 are doing well. Air India has begun flying their 787s to Heathrow, and Ethiopian plans to operates theirs to Seoul Incheon. Let's hope this is just a one time incident.

Jet Airways (9W) starts Code share with Air France / KLM

Jet Airways begins codeshare with Air France-KLM

THE codeshare agreement between Jet Airways and Air France-KLM came into effect on yesterday.

Under the agreement, Air France has placed its AF code on Jet’s domestic flights from Bengaluru, New Delhi and Mumbai to Chennai, from Kolkata and Hyderabad to both Mumbai and Bengaluru; KLM offers KL-coded flights from New Delhi to Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Furthermore, members of Jet Airways and Air France-KLM’s frequent flier programmes will be able to accumulate miles on each other’s flights.

Air France-KLM currently operates 27 flights every week between Europe and India.

Sudheer Raghavan, chief commercial officer, Jet Airways, said: “We are very happy with the addition of our relationship with Air France and KLM. The codeshare agreements will allow our guests enhanced connectivity to the global networks of Air France and KLM. The European gateways will benefit our guests flying to key destinations across India.”

Seema Ahmed, general manager, Kolkata-based Gainwell Travel & Leisure, said the codeshare between Jet Airways and the two European carriers would offer customers “good value” for longhaul flights as well as better value in terms of fares and convenient connections to Europe and North America.

The codeshare agreement comes on the heels of Etihad Airways’ purchase of 24 per cent in Jet Airways (TTG Asia e-Daily, December 4, 2013), as Jet looks to establish hubs in Abu Dhabi, Paris and Amsterdam to carve a slice of international skies for itself.

Privately, I am a bit miffed to see the increased publicity for MRIA, all over the internet and travel print media, when logic says, you need to sell the concept to airlines, not end users .. yah, the end users may ask flights to go to MRIA, but after all, isn't the airlines who have to see the value of a new airport ?
