      I was always wondering how SIN become a focus city for QF. If I recall it correctly, on those days QF used to operate at SIN with over 14 Daily flights including routes e.g. SYD-SIN-BOM vv, SYD-SIN-LHR vv, SYD-SIN-FRA vv, MEL-SIN-LHR vv, MEL-SIN-NRT vv, BRS-SIN, PER-CGK-SIN, PER-SIN and ADL-SIN..

        SIA to add fourth daily to London

        Singapore Airlines (SIA) will introduce a fourth daily flight between Singapore and London Heathrow from October, providing enhanced travel options to their customers.

        SIA currently operates three flights per day between Singapore and London Heathrow, all with Airbus A380s.

        The additional flight, which will have a late-night departure from Singapore, will be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER, also featuring the Airline’s latest cabin products.

        The increase in frequency will be carried out progressively, starting the week of 9 September when the number of flights per week will rise to 25 from 21.

        The full complement of 28 flights per week will take effect from the week of 21 October.

        “We have been looking for opportunities to increase our London flights for many years and are pleased that we can now do so, to provide even more travel options to our customers,” said Singapore Airlines’ Executive Vice President Commercial, Mak Swee Wah.

        “Not only are London and Singapore popular destinations in their own right, the additional flights will allow for more convenient connections beyond London to other points in Europe, and beyond Singapore to other points within Asia and South West Pacific.”

Even if you average out to 50% of the above, you are looking at 6 billion S$ - money spent on visiting the teeny-meeny Zoo, Night Safari and the theme parks. Apart from Shopping and what else. And 6 Billion $ sunk into the economy ..

            Heck even when Indonesia is controlling access to Singapore carriers - especially 3K and TR, with 3K resorting to false-flagging of the planes on VF registry, Singapore doesn't retort - they still allow unlimited access to any Indo Carrier- nett result - Changi Makes money, the Indonesian carriers are dumping passengers into Singapore ..

            Well, somebody in Singapore sees the big picture ..

            Now, tell me, why couldn't Sri Lanka do it ? Oh, wait, they want to protect their National Carrier ..

                  According to the CEO, MJ & UL can never be merged in to one airline, because they are registered as two separate airlines. The only thing now they can do is shutting down MJ and setting up a new airline. (I suggest it should be named SriLankan Smart)

                    Mihin and UL being separate means separate pockets, seperate business opportunities .. you know what I mean ? Merge 'em and the opportunities reduce a lot .

                          Spookyflyer, Thanks for sharing the pictures of A7-BCB, which is the first of six B787-8 to join the QR Fleet. It's Delivery planned for next month or following month. Also A7-BCA will join the fleet by end of this year and remaining four will be delivered to QR next year. Initially QR will be using their B787 to LHR and to some Gulf states.

                          Has anybody got pictures of inside QR B787-8 ?

                              the first A380 for a private customer (MSN002) returned to engine and taxi testing on the Toulouse flightline.

                                Thanks SpookyFlyer. I think MSN002 for Saudi billionaire Prince Alwaleed bin Talal as the first private buyer of an A380 superjumbo..
