Well, if the destination was Canada, may have been different.

Not sure if Goose bay has CIQ facilities, for a start.
no not all get visa on arrival ...one of the stringent visa issuance in the world.
goose bay is a RCAF base and just unable to handle all of them...CBSA (AKA CIQ) cannot handle more than 15 PAX...just general aviation aircraft

And knowing the curse of illegal immigrants ..

Heck, I saw the Sri lankan sailors on board the anti immigrant ship

The C-Star's brief presence in the area was regarded as no more than a minor irritant and occasionally a source of amusement.

Chartered after a crowd-funding campaign generated US$228,000 (RM978,006), the C-Star set off from Djibouti in early July.

The boat was held up for a week in the Suez Canal by Egyptian authorities then delayed further in Cyprus, where some of the Sri Lankan crew got off and claimed refugee status, embarrassingly adding to the list of asylum-seekers the mission was supposed to help cut.
    nothing surprise here

Looks like A380 project is heading towards sunset

An Air France Airbus A380 was forced to divert after part of its engine started to break up over the Atlantic ocean while travelling between Paris and Los Angeles.
